Liverpool has decided to stop pursuing midfielder Jude Bellingham due to realizing that their financial potential is not enough to compete with other rivals.

Despite being only 20 years old, Bellingham has shown his class through creative play, tactical awareness, and impressive ability to compete. In 37 appearances this season, Bellingham has scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists – an outstanding performance. He is also a key player for the England national team, from the 2022 World Cup to the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

As a result, Bellingham has become a hot name in the transfer market, with many top clubs interested in bringing him to their team, including Man City, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

The English national team player is expected to return to his homeland in the summer of 2023 as he has received interest from Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. Dortmund is willing to consider offers for Bellingham as the summer of 2022 presents an opportunity for them to earn a large sum from this transfer deal.

However, during this period, only the Red Devils, Manchester United, and Liverpool have shown enthusiasm for pursuing this deal. Recently, Liverpool has brought good news to Manchester United.

According to The Times, Liverpool is no longer in the race to sign Bellingham. Liverpool is expected to have a busy summer transfer window with a surprise Liverpool new signing. It is evident that Liverpool needs to revamp their squad and will be targeting at least 2 midfield reinforcements.

Specifically, as per The Telegraph, the Merseyside club has decided to abandon the pursuit of Bellingham due to Dortmund’s high asking price in the aforementioned transfer deal.

Sources confirm that Liverpool has decided not to pursue a deal for Jude Bellingham this summer. The reason is that the high cost of signing the English national team player would limit the squad overhaul plans of manager Jurgen Klopp.

Bellingham has been one of the top Liverpool transfer targets for over a year Bellingham. However, with Dortmund potentially refusing to sell due to the high asking price, and the need to address other positions after a disappointing season, Liverpool has pulled out of the race.

In addition to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal have also shown interest in Bellingham. However, there are reports that Arsenal and Real Madrid were among the first to withdraw from the deal.

Dortmund is said to be asking for around £130 million, along with additional clauses, if they decide to sell Bellingham this summer. Bellingham’s value has significantly increased following an impressive performance at the 2022 World Cup.

The biggest issue is the Jude Bellingham transfer fee of £130 million price tag set by Dortmund. Furthermore, Liverpool is not willing to waste time negotiating with Dortmund as they understand the German club will play hardball in this deal.

Manager Klopp is a big admirer of Bellingham, but Liverpool may turn to cheaper alternatives like Mason Mount and Youri Tielemans, who will be available on a free transfer when the 2022/23 season ends.

As a result, Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG may have a better chance in the race for Bellingham. Real Madrid is also reported to be interested in Bellingham, but may not be willing to meet Dortmund’s hefty price demand.

Despite Dortmund’s high asking price, they still want to keep Bellingham for at least another season. They are even willing to increase his salary by 150%, up to £13 million per year, but the former Birmingham player has not agreed.

The decision to withdraw from the race for Bellingham may not please Liverpool fans, but Klopp acknowledges, “Whatever we do in the next year will never be enough in everyone’s eyes, but with smart signings, we will improve, for sure.”

According to some sources, The Kop has set their sights on Chelsea’s midfield duo, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, as potential replacements for Bellingham. The future of both players remains uncertain as Mount’s contract with The Blues expires in the summer of 2024, and there have been no talks of an extension yet. Gallagher has struggled to secure regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.

According to Transfermarkt, Mason Mount transfer fee is currently valued at approximately £60 million, while Gallagher’s is valued at around £30 million.
