Man Utd plans summer clearout: Revealing the 10 names out

Summer 2023 will be a strong revolution for the Man Utd squad under Ten Hag. There are many Man Utd transfer targets for this 2023 summer. And it is expected that many stars will have to leave Old Trafford for professional and salary reasons.

Immediately after taking on the role of head coach of Man Utd last summer, Ten Hag immediately embarked on the task of buying the squad to prepare for the new season. The 6 new arrivals brought to Old Trafford have contributed significantly to the current performance of Man Utd.

However, this is only the first step in Ten Hag’s journey to revive the Red Devils. The current Man Utd squad still has many deficiencies in all 3 lines. And he will have to make purchases in the upcoming summer transfer window to enter a new season.

To supplement the squad, Manchester United will certainly need to sell players who are no longer in the plans to free up wages. So who are the players leaving Manchester United this 2023 summer? At present, 10 names are likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season due to their minimal contributions.

The list of Man Utd players to be sold includes McTominay, Maguire, Lindelof, Dean Henderson, Elanga, Brandon Williams, Bailly, Telles, Phil Jones, and Tuanzebe. These players will not be offered contract extensions and will be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Telles, 30 years old, is a left-back who is not defensively minded. Manchester United has signed Tyrell Malacia to compete with Luke Shaw for the left-back position. Telles has been loaned to Sevilla, and he is still under contract with Manchester United until 2024. This means that the club needs to sell him this summer to recoup a transfer fee.

Manchester United spent €15 million to sign Telles, and they need to at least recoup half of that investment. The Brazilian player has made 50 appearances for the club and has mostly performed below expectations.

The same thing is happening with Williams, who is at a crossroads in his career. The 22-year-old seemed to have matured at Norwich on loan last season, but he has regressed and Ten Hag has only included him in the squad for 5 matches this season.

Williams only played in the closing minutes of United’s 2-0 League Cup win over Burnley in December and has started for the U-21 team 4 times since then, captaining the side in 3 of those games. Williams played poorly against Manchester City U-21s in a 0-6 defeat at the start of the month. This will not “encourage” United to keep Williams in the summer.

The full-back has a contract with the club until June 2024, with an option to extend for another year. But it seems best for both parties if Williams finds a new long-term home and, like Telles, United will need to recoup a fee when they sell him.

Bailly, who is in the same contract situation as Telles and Williams, is the next departure. The 28-year-old defender was loaned to Marseille this season and made headlines in January when he received a 7-match ban for a tackle on an opponent.

The center-back is inherently clumsy and never changes, which is why he had to leave Man United, before coach Ten Hag’s final “dismissal” decision.

Notably on this list are the appearances of the duo Maguire and Lindelof, along with midfielder McTominay, as all three names are still considered necessary whenever Man Utd needs to rotate. However, with what they have shown since the beginning of the season, they have been and will be difficult to fit into Ten Hag’s scheme for the Red Devils.

What is about Harry Maguire? Is Maguire leaving Man Utd? Ten Hag wants to raise at least 150 million euros from selling and loaning out these players to supplement Man Utd’s squad. It will be a strong overhaul from the Dutch coach to the Man Utd squad for the upcoming season after achieving what he did this season.

With the funds from player sales and contributions from Qatari owners, Man Utd is expected to have another bright summer with big-name signings at the Theatre of Dreams. This brings the path to return to the top for the Red Devils even closer and the fans have the right to dream of trophies in the upcoming season.
