Man Utd Transfer Targets: 9 Super Stars for Summer 2023

Man Utd Transfer Targets: The 2022/23 season is not yet over, but coach Erik ten Hag and his team have already identified what needs to be done and the goals to aim for in the upcoming transfer window for Manchester United. Man United has identified nine potential targets to bring in a goalkeeper, central midfielder, and striker to strengthen the team under Erik ten Hag’s leadership. At least “two big stars” are expected to join Old Trafford in the summer of 2023. Check out some latest Man Utd transfer targets in this summer window via today’s blog.

Man Utd midfield transfer targets

There are two positions where everyone can clearly see that Man U needs to strengthen its squad. The first is in central midfield. Casemiro is an excellent addition to the central midfield position, but the players alongside him in the role of pulling the ball and coordinating have not yet met the requirements.

That’s why the Red Devils will return to the deal for Frenkie de Jong. There’s no need to say more about De Jong’s talent and the reason why coach Ten Hag wants to have his former student back. The important thing is whether Barcelona is willing to sell and whether De Jong is determined to leave or not.

In case the De Jong deal continues to be difficult like last summer, Man Utd may turn to another equally exciting target. That is the young star Jude Bellingham of Dortmund. The German team is demanding up to 150 million euros for Bellingham, but if Man United is determined, they can buy him at a lower price.

Jude Bellingham is a quality player no less than De Jong. The contract between Dortmund and Bellingham only lasts until the summer of 2024. If he leaves this summer, the young star is predicted to become the most expensive English signing in history. MUFC must compete with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid for this deal.

Man Utd striker transfer targets

Another position where Man Utd is also weak is the center forward position. Wout Weghorst is doing well in his job, but more as a pressing expert or a “decoy” than a “killer”. In fact, he has only scored 1 goal since moving to Old Trafford in January. Currently, Manchester United is targeting Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, both top strikers. They are one of the most important Man Utd transfer targets this season.

According to The Times, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are early considerations by Coach Ten Hag. Kane and Osimhen are two of the highest-performing strikers in Europe at the moment. Kane scored 20 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions, with Osimhen scoring 21 goals in 26 matches since the start of the season.

Furthermore, the Old Trafford club is willing to spend heavily to acquire one of these two players in the summer of 2023. If the Red Devils can sign Kane or Osimhen, they will be the Man Utd most expensive signings in history. Additionally, Ghanaian striker Mohammed Kudus is also considered a backup option in case Manchester Utd cannot sign the aforementioned stars.

Kudus can play in many positions in the attacking line and has already worked with Coach Ten Hag at Ajax. The Portuguese striker, who made headlines at the 2022 World Cup with a hat-trick against Switzerland, possesses impressive speed and physical fitness. Moreover, Kudus is much cheaper than Kane or Osimhen.

Goalkeepers transfer targets

In addition, coach Ten Hag still has a transfer target for the goalkeeper position. This is one of Man Utd next transfer targets this summer. David De Gea has not fully convinced the Dutch strategist with his footwork ability. Recent mistakes in passing have made Ten Hag impatient with De Gea.

The Red Devil is said to be ready to part ways with David De Gea after his contract with the team expires at the end of June. Manchester United is reportedly showing interest in David Raya of Brentford and Diogo Costa of Porto.

According to Telegraph, coach Ten Hag is very fond of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya. His footwork and distribution ability is highly valued by experts. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s scouting team is closely monitoring Diogo Costa, the young and rising goalkeeper of Porto.

Other Positions for Man Utd Transfer Targets

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Chelsea’s Mason Mount are also being pursued by Manchester United. The English midfielder has reportedly turned down contract extension offers from Chelsea and is likely to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. MU’s chances of signing Mount have increased as Chelsea is reportedly willing to sell him in the summer of 2023.

Declan Rice, a former MU target, has fallen out of consideration as Casemiro has been performing well in a similar position. Declan Rice, who is a close friend of Mount, is also on the list of Man Utd transfer targets. However, he is not a priority due to West Ham’s high asking price and the importance of Casemiro to Ten Hag’s tactics at Old Trafford.

The common denominator of Man Utd’s pursuit targets is that they are all very expensive. Therefore, in order to buy the desired players without violating financial fair play rules, MU will have to sell some players. Captain Harry Maguire, loaned-out defender Alex Telles (to Sevilla), and injured forward Anthony Martial will be the first Man Utd players to be sold in 2023.

Head coach Erik ten Hag has helped Man United transform their squad in just over 6 months. The new signings he brought in, such as Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Casemiro, have partially met expectations.

However, the Dutch coach understands that the “Red Devils” squad is not yet complete. The summer of 2023 presents an opportunity for him to help MU acquire better equipment, thereby being ready to compete for the Premier League championship.
